Rack Buildout Services

From a single wall-mount closet to a full multi-rack IDF room — every buildout follows the same standard: clean, labeled, and documented.

Open-Frame & Enclosed Rack Installation

Wall-mount and floor-standing open-frame and enclosed equipment racks (12U–48U) installed level, anchored, and bonded to ground. Manufacturer-spec torque applied to all mounting hardware.

Patch Panel Termination & Labeling

24-port and 48-port Cat6/Cat6a patch panels punched, labeled front and rear, and tested with a Fluke DSX certifier. Color-coded by VLAN or zone per client specification.

Managed Switch Rack-Mounting

Managed PoE and non-PoE switches rack-mounted, cabled, and configured. VLANs, QoS, port profiles, and SNMP configured and documented before handoff.

Cable Management & Routing

1U and 2U horizontal cable managers, vertical cable trays, Velcro dress straps, and zero-slack service loops on every patch cord. No zip ties on active cables.

Power Distribution & UPS

Rack-mounted PDUs and UPS units installed, configured, and load-balanced. Battery runtime calculated for your equipment load. Outlet labeling for each circuit.

As-Built Documentation & Labeling

Every port labeled front and back with zone, floor, and drop ID. Rack elevation drawing, IP address scheme, VLAN doc, and switch config exported and delivered at closeout.

Fluke DSX Certified Every Drop

Every patch panel port and structured cabling run is certified to the appropriate channel specification before closeout. Test results delivered as part of the closeout package.

Zero Zip Ties on Active Cables

We use Velcro dress straps and horizontal/vertical cable managers — never zip ties on active data or power cables. Your rack will look as good in 5 years as it does at install.

Complete Rack Documentation

Rack elevation drawings (front and rear), port-to-port tracing document, IP address scheme, VLAN assignments, and switch configuration export — all delivered at project closeout.

How Every Rack Build Works

A consistent four-step process that keeps your project on schedule and delivers a rack your IT team will actually appreciate.

01

Site Walk & Rack Assessment

We inspect the IDF/MDF or server room, review existing equipment, assess airflow, power availability, and determine rack size, type, and cable pathway routing.

02

Rack Design & Elevation Drawing

Front and rear rack elevation drawings with equipment placement, patch panel layout, power distribution, and cable routing path before any hardware is touched.

03

Rack Build & Cabling

Rack anchored and bonded, equipment mounted, patch panels punched and labeled, cable management installed, switches configured, and all patch cords dressed.

04

Certification, Testing & Handoff

Every run Fluke DSX certified, switch config exported, rack elevation updated as-built, and all documentation delivered at project closeout.

Common Questions

Everything you need to know about our network rack installation service.

For a small office with 1–2 switches and a patch panel, a 12U–16U wall-mount rack is typically sufficient. For multi-floor IDF closets with multiple switches, a 24U–42U floor-standing rack is standard. We size the rack during the site walk based on your current equipment and expected growth.
Open-frame racks are standard in IDF closets with controlled access and good airflow. Enclosed racks (with doors) are used in high-traffic areas, co-location environments, or where physical security is required. We’ll recommend the appropriate type based on your environment.
Yes. We can supply and install the managed switches, configure VLANs, QoS policies, port profiles, and SNMP — or install equipment you’ve already purchased. Configuration is documented and exported at closeout.
We use 1U and 2U horizontal cable managers between equipment units, vertical cable trays for inter-rack routing, and Velcro dress straps on all patch cords. Patch cord lengths are sized for zero slack. No zip ties are used on active cables.
Yes. We install rack-mounted UPS units and PDUs, calculate battery runtime for your equipment load, and balance power across circuits. Outlet labeling and load documentation are included in the closeout package.
Front and rear rack elevation drawings (as-built), port-to-port tracing document, IP address scheme, VLAN assignment table, switch configuration export, Fluke DSX certification reports for all channels, and UPS load summary.
