Sonos System Ownership Transfer Guide

Thank you for choosing Multimedia Technology Group for your Sonos installation and support. To ensure we can properly set up and manage your Sonos system, please follow the steps below to transfer ownership to us temporarily.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Download the Sonos App
    If you haven’t already, please download the Sonos S2 app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
    The app icon is black with white letters that spell “Sonos.”

  2. Create a Sonos Account
    Open the app and create your own Sonos account by choosing a unique email and password.
    Password requirements:

    • At least 8 characters

    • Must include at least one uppercase letter

    • Must include at least one lowercase letter

    • Must include at least one number or special character
      After signing up, check your personal email inbox and click the confirmation link to verify your new Sonos account.

  3. Open the Sonos App
    Launch the Sonos S2 App on your smartphone or tablet.

  4. Go to Settings
    Tap the Settings tab (gear icon in the bottom-right corner).

  5. Select "General Settings"
    Scroll down to general settings and click on it.

  6. Tap "Transfer System Ownership"
    Scroll down and tap “Transfer System Ownership.”
    When the "Transfer Sonos" notification appears, tap Continue to proceed.

  7. Respond to "Sign in to Sonos" Prompt
    The app will display a "Sign in to Sonos" notification. Tap Continue to move forward.

  8. Log In to Your Sonos Account
    You’ll be redirected to login.sonos.com. Sign in using your own Sonos account email and password to authorize the transfer.

  9. Tap "Continue" on the "Ready to Transfer" Screen
    After logging in, a "Ready to Transfer" message will appear. Tap Continue to proceed.

  10. Respond to Second "Sign in to Sonos" Notification
    You will now see a second message that says:
    "Sign in to Sonos – Sign in to an existing account or create a new account."
    Tap Continue to proceed.

  11. Enter New Owner Credentials
    You will be redirected again to login.sonos.com.
    Enter the new owner’s credentials:

  12. Confirm Transfer
    A final screen will appear that says "Transfer Complete" with a checkmark icon. Tap the Done button to finish.
    At this point, Multimedia Technology Group will temporarily become the system owner so we can program, install, test, troubleshoot, authenticate, configure, and fully set up all your Sonos devices.
    Once we have confirmed everything is working perfectly, we will re-transfer ownership back to you so you can enjoy your Sonos system without interruption.
